3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Well, this past winter, as some may perhaps recall, I found some JDM rear taillights on the cheap from the UK and put those in. They have no red reflector in them -- the orange just wraps right around to the end. That was JDM lights, part 1.
Later in the winter, I accidentally broke the upper mount for my front left turn signal with my snow brush, so I figured I may as well get some JDM lights to replace those. They proved trickier to find but I eventually got a pair of DEPO items from a company in Austria. I've never been a big fan of the eBay "clear/white" turn signals, as they just have the orange reflector replaced with a white one. Why even bother with the reflector if you're just going to make it white? The JDM lights have no reflector at all, so I went for them. They just arrived tonight, so I put them in.
Unfortunately, they highlight how horrible my headlights look. Gracia lights next, then?
I have several little bits of rust and the paint on my car isn't the greatest, so some body work is in the cards at some point. I've seen those amber side lights available quite cheaply so I'll likely put some in at body work time.
I don't think I'll do the projector retrofit...every time I see them I can't help but think the little projectors look lost and lonely inside that big light housing. Almost like they need an additional regular light in the housing as well, as you usually see on cars with factory projectors. I expect I'll go with Gracia lights instead at some point, as I like their subtlety and how they look like they "belong." Thanks for the advice, though.
I'm not a fan of projectors either.....you should get some newer, cleaner headlights to go with those kickass jdm corners. I've always liked the oem headlights in the camry4-4.5. maybe you just need some eyelids like my car. :]
hey HEEP were can I find a deck spoiler like yours?

Yep, that's what the Gracia (JDM) headlights are like - similar to the 4.5 lights in that they have a crystal clear lens with reflection done inside the housing, but they fit the Gen 4 without modification.
The spoiler is a TRD item. As far as I know it's discontinued, but they show up now and again in the TN For Sale forum. Often they're bundled with the full skirt kit, but sometimes you can find them for sale separately, like mine. I lucked out - the one I bought was already the correct colour for my car :-D
Hey all.
I don't really post much here and I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but the lights the OP has on display are found on Camry's pretty much everywhere in the world but the US.
Don't get me wrong Japinese Camry's have these lights as well, but they are by no means rare or hard to come by.
The reason I'm saying this is that with the amount of companies distributing these around the world (NEW oem and NEW aftermarket oem) for next to nothing anyone in the States can get them on the cheapo.
for example lights from my Aussie Cam
Once again not trying to be rude but just thought you guys seem interested in these and that I should tell you how easy they are to get.
