Confirmed: 36MPG after fueling up. I got almost 40MPG in my GEN3
I didn't realize this until I was reply to another thread. Also I know someone else posted something similar but I wanted to share my info
On Friday I did a trip from Oshawa, ontario --> Georgian Bay. Total KM's is approx 350km, round trip 700km. Believe it or not i used just over 1/4 of gas. I thought my gas meter was broken I kept tapping the cluster to see if it would move.
My average speed was about 110-120km/h. I have a SRI installed, and recently did an entire seafoam. So I got really really good mileage. I have yet to refuel and currently stand at 832km on 3/4 used.
Right now if I were to get gas at 3/4 empty (approx 50 liters or 13Gal) i would be getting about 40MPG. OMG that is ridicious I swear this is what my odometer is reading. Stock wheels, 87 octane, tire PSI @ 34, 25 degrees celsius weather, no A/C usage at all. ALL HIGHWAY driving (700km, 132km City)
I am very happy since, a full tank of fuel for me is $75 @ $1.3x per liter
EDIT: After getting fuel, 36MPG here are the numbers Post #36 CLICK HERE

Reason: Adding numbers
I will get gas in the next day or two when it drops 2-3 cents
XET:
Yea at 25 degrees, I can live without A/C. Also, highway driving makes such a HUGE difference. On top of that, I don't floor it easy on the accelerator, and its a 5 spd manual.
Also, Seafoam did something for me, cuz my trip to Detroit (800km reound trip) was no where near this. 700km and it was empty

The environment temperature does affect the efficency of engine. According to the "T" constant theory, in order to maximize the efficency of the engine, the only way is to heat it up. And 25 degree is dang freezing...
Under perfect condition, especially when u drive at low speed (45-65mph), camry does give such impressive result, but again like Venom said, u better do an exact fill up calculation. The fuel meter in gen 3 is just so unreliable IMO.

i wish i could skip the ac my gas mileage in the camry has plummeted since summer and ac usage
if you read any reputable source, they will tell you that A/C draining gas mileage is pretty much a myth - it will only change it by + 1mpg, which means nothing really
i use my a/c on full-cold all the time and get 30mpg

There is only one way to figure this out for sure. Empty your tank COMPLETELY, as in the car dies because there is no gas, then fill it up with a fixed amount and drive until its empty again, just be sure to carry a gas can with you. Gas gauges can't be 100% correct, this is as close as you'll get though.

No, don't do that...you'd be risking damage to your fuel pump. A fuel pump can only run for a couple of seconds dry before it packs it in. Just the other day in my work truck I ran out of gas, pushed it to a gas station, filled and it wouldn't start...turned out to be the fuel pump.
The true way to calcualte is to fill up, drive, fill up again and note miles driven and amount of fuel it took to fill (amount used), then calculate from there. No need to risk your pump.

I'll give you a cookie if you actually find out that you got 40mpg when you fill up. The gauges on these cars are notoriously inaccurate. My tank is usually at 1/2 full when the indicator is at the 3/4 mark, and it drops like a drunken monkey from there.

^^Very true. Once you learn what's what it's easy to know where you're really at. Mine is approx 1/8 or so when it reads 1/4 as well.
Recently did the MAF mod and been monitoring my mileage. Seems driving as I normally do, and with AC on, I'm getting approx. 700km/tank probably a bit more. I'm not about to drain the tank to find out! I just can figure out roughly how much I have left when I fill it up again, and it's been pretty consistent when doing so.
