3rd Generation Wheel Fitment Thread

i tried searching ... i thought there was a thread about wheel specs for optimum fitment on the Gen 3, but i can only find IS300 wheel stuff

I'm trying to decide on what i want from my wheels ... probably going for a 17x7, 17x7.5 or 17x8 wheel, but not totally sure ... also, im not sure what offset would be needed to get it perfectly flush in the rear especially - idk what offset the stock 14x5.5 steel rims are but the front is only about 5mm away from flush, so if anyone can tell me my stock offset that would be GREAT!

If anyone has pictures of lowered Gen 3's with 17s and 18s, they would be greatly appreciated but only if you can give wheel specs [Brand/Model, Diameter & Width, Offset]

Also, i know its not common ... but has anyone stretched tire on a 17" wheel for their Gen 3 yet? im not talking about extreme strech like you would see on a VIP car, but just 1 or 2 sizes under?

i believe the stock offset is +42 or +43.

if you want flush, +38 would be the best if you're going 17x7.5

click my sig for a pic of my car.
18x7.5
+43 offset
224/40/18
2" drop

well i imagine youve seen the offset thread in the general info section. i think the rear would need something like 32mm to be flush but ull be real close to rubbing. over all between 32 and 38mms would be pretty flush but the back will always need spacers or a slight staggered offset to be flush.

as far as stretch "wheel peel", you can defiantly do it, ive never seen a gen3 owner here do it but say you get a 7.5" wide wheel then get a 205 profile tire.

That wont make it flush at all, +38 will still be caved in.

Mine is flush and im running 18 X 7.5 +42 with a 15mm spacer in the back which makes it a +27 and its perfect. The front has a 10mm spacer which makes it a +32 and thats sitting right with -1 degree of camber.

excellent george! duly noted: 7.5" wide wheel is approx +32 front and +27 rear

of course it will vary with some wheel designs, but now i know to aim for +32 with or without spacers (if possible)
