Critters in Blower Fan

About 6 months ago the blower fan in my 97 camry was making an awful racket. I took it out and found 2 hickory nut shells inside. Today I turned on the a/c and it was making an even worse noise... dead mouse. I'm not really interested in taking the fan out twice a year. Does anybody know how a mouse can gain access to that cavity? As a side note, I will be placing a screen/mesh over the air intake tube because of the frequent nests in my the air filter housing.

Live with it, honestly, it sucks. I live in CT as well. I just cleared an acorn nest from my dad's '96 Camry last night. Actually had a mouse build a nest in the damn dashboard 3 years ago too. All I can think, is check the wire mesh and plastic at the window base, and see if there is gaps. that may be a cause.

I'll check for any obvious gaps. Probably a losing battle since they can squeeze into tight spaces.

Well, I guess I shouldn't waste my time. I'll do as was previously suggested... live with it. I'm sure there are a few creative deterrents such as moth balls in the engine compartment, but I haven't gotten to that point yet.

Years ago I had some critter tear up my under hood pad, along with chewing up some major vavuum lines and the tubing leading to the windshield squirters of my brand new 94 Camry XLE. Car was 1 month old. I was not happy. My wife had heard that cedar blocks keep critters away. We got some flat wooden cedar blocks at a Dollar Store and duct taped them to various parts of the engine compartment. Whatever critter did the damage never returned. Can't really say it was definitely the cedar blocks, or the critter just found a better home.
