Tires are locked!!! Help!!!

We put new tires on my 92 camry ourselves. The car is new to me, and no owners manuel came with it. I tried to drive it and discovered it won't move. It starts, the gear shift moves, but won't register the gears or move the car! What to do?????

Did you put on new rims or just new tires?

IF you put on new rims, they may not be compatible with the car and are locking up on the brake assemblies or something.

I'd check that FIRST.

Second option is a problem with the shifter cable to the transmission.

A serious transmission problem is possible but not likely.

I don't know how your tires are stuck. Are you staying you are stuck in park? Is this your first time driving the car and the car won't shift into gear or this just happened to you after driving. Do your gauges work? My car would shift through the gears but was stuck in park. I had a problem like this and my cluster wouldn't work so I checked the fuses under the dash and sure enough it was a blown fuse. good luck

Check that the shifter cable is actually moving the gear selector on the trans. You will be able to see this with the hood open.

Jack up the front/rear tires and determine if they rotate when off the ground.
