USA Greetings

Hi,

I just joined today so that I can get help with one of my Toyotas. I currently have 3 of them - a 1989 Pickup 4-banger, a 1997 Camry XLE V-6,
and a 1999 Solara SLE V-6.

I don't know much about this blog / forum stuff, so I hope I'm putting this in the correct spot.

I am having an airflow problem with the 97 Camry. When the control is set on either "Panel" or "Bi-level" I get a very low airflow through the two vent above the radio. The two vents by the door seem to have proper airflow*.

In all other positions, the airflow seems to be working correctly.

The air outlet servo motor looks like it's working correctly, but apparently it's not opening a door inside the ductwork. I cant tell because the damper plate is in the way of seeing what the linkage is doing.

So, how do you remover the damper plate? Is that a wise thing to do - or will the linkage fall all over and be a pain to put back together?

Thanks. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

* Compared to the Solara, which has the automaic air controls, and a five speed fan instead of a 4 speed, the overall air flow on the Camry is terrible - like the fan in the Solara on the middle setting provides much more airflow than the Camry on high.

Welcome to TN.

I see you have a few questions about an issue with your Camry. It would be best to have this thread in the Camry forums so that you will get a lot of helpful responses over there.

MOVED!

Thanks for moving me to the right place. I thought I found some info under "center vents - no air" but I guess that only applied to earlier camry's... i will keep searching for an answer, hoping one shows up!
