hey guys. i'm just introducing myself to this forum. i actually don't own a camry my gf does. i drive a tsx. its a 2000 camry LE i4. anyways, there are some problems with her car right now. whenever you start the engine, the fans would start spinning before the ac is on. i checked the fuses and switches in the engine bay and it didn't do anything. i also changed the fan switches and it still has the same problem. i'm not sure what the problem is. its like the ac fan is always on, even when the ac is not on. another problem i'm having with the car is the steering wheel. it feels really light and wobbly. is there anyway to make the steering wheel feel stiffer? would a strut bar help? thanks guys.

Both fans are on?

The wiring system is opposite in this setup. An open wire to the radiator temp switch will cause the fans to come on, not a short. Check for disconnected wires in the circuits.

There may be up to 3 different relays in this fan system. Find and pull each one at a time. Determine if the removal of any of them causes the fans to stop working. They should be in the engine compartment relay-fuse box and labeled as such.

Then post back.

Might be the tires are causing this. But check the struts by bouncing up and down on the car. It should stop rocking in about 2 cycles.

Not sure how much a strut bar does, suggest checking for other issues first.

No doubt will post on this issue.

Thanks toyomoho. How do i check for disconnected wires in the circuit? I remember i pulled out one of the relays and the ac fan would turn off. This is when the ac is not on. I think its the ac fan?

How can the tires be causing this? Can this also be an alignment problem? I know the car has been in an accident before and the steering wheel is not straight. You have to sort of hold it at an angle for the car to go straight or it will pull right. The struts i just changed because it was causing a knocking or thumping noise everything you go through a dip, speed bump, or you hit uneven pavement. So the struts are brand new.

Tranny slippage..... hopefully not though.

How many miles are on it?

The slushboxes on Camry's are very smooth, and it shouldn't feel liek that at all.

There is a temp sensor in the radiator (bottom passenger side I believe) with a wire to the fan. Make sure that is connected. If it is then check the sensor for operation.

If the IAC valve (ICV?) was dirty then the EGR valve may also be. You can clean it or replace it. When you replaced the IAC I take it that you cleaned the throttle body? If you're having a mechanic do this they will probably just want to replace it like the IAC valve. Before you do that do a little testing to make sure it isn't working right.
