What's up guys, as you saw in my other thread, I got some new rims recently Now I'm needing tires. The rims are 17x8 +40mm offset, I'm hoping to get the most rubber I can for the best price, so what size tire, and what kind of tire would you suggest? I want summer only, I'm a Cali boy and have a 4WD car available for trips to the mountains so I don't have to worry about ice/snow.
Thanks!
Nathan
Oh yeah for those of you who don't know this I have a gen3
215 sounds a little narrow for an 8" rim, I also don't mind rolling the fenders if need be. I was looking at 215's for 7" rims before and these rims currently have 255's on them (selling those to cover the mounting/balancing costs) and it just looks like a 215 is gonna look wimpy. Also I HATE the stretched look (Where the sidewalls are stretched out to the rim... ick.)
I was looking at 225/45/17, that's the best I could get on the miata.net tire calc. I don't want anything taller than that for sure.
How do you figure? AFAIK stock is 195/70/14... I'm getting 225/45/17 as closest every time.
Oh ya I4 is diff then V6. I have a v6 and stock is 205/65/15.
Does anyone know if the v6 and i4 are calibrated differently since their is a diff between the i4 and v6 tire size. If they were calibrated the same then you could use the v6 instead of the i4 tire size for your upgrade since you could add more rubber.
