DTC:12 Engine Speed Circuit (RPM)

92 Camry 2.2 liter auto

A co-worker of mine just bought this car. Only problem he noticed was the car stalling between 2200-2300 rpms and a Check Engine Light. I scanned it and the only code that came up was DTC:12 Engine Speed Circuit (RPM).

I can't find a list of OBD 1 Toyota codes, but does this code refer to the Camshaft or Crankshaft Position Sensor?

I initially thought there could be a dead spot on the Throttle Position Sensor, but the code threw me off.

Any suggestions?

Anyway, I'm going to clean out the electrical connections between the Distributor and the ECU and go from there. I think the code is referring to a Crank sensor of sort in the Distributor. The throttle body looked good by the way.
