Lately I've been thinking of a cheap way to add respectable performance and while both turbo-ing and getting the TRD bolt on supercharger are able to add that performance need, they are out of the question in term of affordability.
So I came up with a custom supercharger system that run off the crank/timing belt, it will spin a turbo compressor and then the compressor feeds air into the throttle body. A custom contraption gear wheel/belt to run off the main timing belt, some kind of bearing between the gear wheel and the compressor to make sure the compressor spins fast enough, a small compressor, pressure gauge are some main needed components. Tuning is as simple as finding the perfect psi (4-7). The whole wheel gear contraption and compressor can be placed in the space right behind passenger headlight. Piping is easy, as much as two bends are needed.
I'm looking at 30hp right off without any AFR tuning, push it a little and one can get away with 50 extra whp with minimal spending for equipments and of course, a bit of work is required.
What do you guys think? I'm new to this whole mechanic thing, let alone forced induction. I need some inputs. Thanks
