4th Generation Help! 98 Camry idle/reving problem

I have a 98 camry i4 with 120,000. The CEL recently came on and I noticed that my gas mileage was down a bit. I went to AutoZone and found that I needed an O2 sensor. Well...

I had a mechanic replace the sensor, change the oil and rotate tires, give and alignment and reset the CEL.

2 minutes after diving it off of the lot the CEL pops back on and now the car idles terribly at stops (jumps up and down from 1100rpm to 700 rpm while sounding like it is going to stall while it jumps) Also it now accelerates really high before changing gears. It never did this before I took it in and I am at a loss for whats going on.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance

When the CEL came on the 2nd time, did you check what code it is? It might be different problem. Go back to AutoZone and let them read the code again.

Which O2 sensor did your mechanic replace? What brand was it?
