Clutch slave cylinder problem?

Hi everyone,

I have a 93 camry 3vzfe 5spd and am noticing problems when disengaging/engaging my clutch. When I put the clutch pedal down, I initially have over an inch before the clutch engages when being released. However, if I am at a stop and keep the pedal down longer (3+ seconds), it starts to engage higher on the pedal until it eventually begins to engage on its own. It seems to require constant pumping to release properly. I suspect the problem is the clutch slave cylinder as I changed my clutch and clutch master cylinder within the last 2-3 years (~40k km). I found no leaks in the slave/master cylinders and the fluid appears normal.

Could the engagement slipping problem be within the slave cylinder as the other parts were recently changed?

Thanks!

Sounds like the hydraulic pressure in the system is bleeding off over time allowing the clutch to engage.

Determine if the flexible hydraulic lines are swelling.

You might have someone press on the clutch pedal then clamp the line using something that will not damage the line. If the clutch starts to release you will know it is the slave cylinder.
