ebrake not working

on my 1992 camry 2.2l, I pulled up on the ebrake, and it didn't work. then I pulled harder, and it still didn't hold the car, but it mustve engaged enough to rub on the back rotors. I have disc brakes in the back, and could hear the rubbing in the cabin. After a bit of driving, the noise went away. I just want to make sure they are not rubbing still. How can I best do this?? Also, how can I see if my 92 has ABS? there is no light in the dash. The previous owner said it has ABS, but I think he was BSin me.

thanks,
Adam

If ABS there would be a dash light icon that would turn on with the ign switch along with all the other dash warning lights.

There is a ABS actuator in the engine compartment passengers side having numerous brake lines running to it. Each suspension knuckle would have a ABS wheel sensor bolted to it with an electrical wire. Remove a front tire and look behind the knuckle where the outer CV joint is.

The E-brake may need adjusting or new shoes. The cable may just need adjusting (shorting). Look under the car for a steel cable running down the center then splitting into two and running to each rear wheel.

There should be an adjustment bolt at the end of the center cable to take up the slack where it meets the other two.

The brake drum is most likely warped and out of round a little bit, the shoes are rubbing on the low part of the drum. This is typically not a problem unless the problem is severe.

so.....no ABS brakes. but I do have all wheel discs on my 92 5fse. I think the pads might be rubbing slightly still. When I am done driving the car, I can feel the wheels, and they are warm. Is this normal?? Is there any way to manually make sure the ebrake is fully disconnected??

thanks,
Adam
