99 Camry vent problem

I have a 99 Camry (V6). The other day, while driving, the A/C stopped blowing. I turned the fan speed contol knob and nothing happened until I put the fan into High. I lost the low and medium speeds. Everything works fine on high. Any ideas where I should start investigating? Not sure if the switch contols the speed or if this is a motor fan issue (and I don't know where that is located in this car). I appreciate any suggestions

It sounds like you have a bad "blower motor resistor". This is an easy DIY repair. Look up under the passenger side of the dash to find the blower motor. You may have to remove a cover under the dash to access it. Follow the wiring just back from the blower. You will find the resistor held in by 1 or sometimes 2 screws. Disconnect the wiring harness and remove the resistor. Take it to your dealer for a replacement. I believe this is a dealer only part. It should run about $50-$60. You can also do a search for "blower motor resistor" if my instructions aren't clear enough. I remember a thread that may have some pictures of the resistor under the dash.

Got mine at junkyard for $4 if you just need one to get you by until you have more funds.
