creaking noise from car

Ok....the noise sounds like a rocking chair creaking when you rock back and forth. It doesn't do it every time I go over a bump, hardly ever. It will creak when going over certain bumps, but not always. I can't pinpoint the noise. Any suggestions for me to check?? Its kinda annoying.

thanks,
Adam

In my other car, an Infiniti G20, I had a similar noise (after changing the struts). The paper gasket between two rubber parts had worn off and I didn't bother replacing it...but the squeaking came from these two parts rubbing together. I am not sure of the part names...but it was above where the springs were seated and the strut tower?). Sorry for not knowing the names.

I am not sure if this is your issue or if it is an issue with Camrys...but it is an issue on G20s.

Like I mentioned before, I think it is only a missing gasket (at least that's what it was for me). It won't really impact your car, other than annoy you with a squeaky sound. Basically it is two rubber parts rubbing together.

You can take if back to the place to ask them about it but they may not want to mess with it (especially if you had your alignment done afterwards). But it is worth a shot...just don't pay anymore since they should have done it right. But it really won't affect your handling.

I pushed at the front of the car, and no noise, then I pushed on the rear of the car, and heard the creaking noise. Its not coming from the front struts, but from the back somewhere. I don't think its coming from the rear struts either. Could it be the rubber bushings on any of the arms underneath??

thanks,
Adam

Did you have the rears struts changed? If not, it could be the struts are so bad, the bump stops are rubbing against the top of the strut tower. (So you'd need both the struts and bump stops changed out).

If one of your bushings was bad, I'm not sure it would make a squeaking sound...in some cars it would make a clunking sound, but I'm not sure about Camry's.

Anyone have an opinion?

Check sway bar bushings if you've already replaced the struts
