Check engine light? improved milage

Ok so my Ckeck engine light came on, in my 95 camry v6, now I get an extra 50-100 km per tank more then I used to. i have checked the codes yet, but just wondering if anyone had ideas on what could be wrong. I was thinking either something causing it to run lean and I may burn up the pistons, or changed to default settings which are more efficient. Anyone else have a problem like this?

First, just the way u drive would make a dramaticaly change in mpg, maybe u just hesitate to floor the gas after having the code on, lol.

Second, i suggest u bring it to the mechanic for a check, the point is not to just turn off the light (they were made for some reason). Whatever that caused the light goes on shouldn't be good and make u happy (and of course not the running-lean theory thing, lol).

you'll have to check the code or we're all about as clueless to the problem as you are

Many chain auto stores will read your codes for free. I know in the Northwest we have Schucks (Checker/Kragen in other states) and I've had them read many codes on my vehicles and my friends cars.

Write down the code and repost your question.

lol. True with the light being on and being easier on the car XD.

Get the codes scanned and read. It could be something small....such as a bad gas cap..............
