3rd Generation Another Gen 3 Exhaust Thread

So I want to do something to the exhaust on my 1994 5sfe Camry, but I'm not sure what. It doesn't have to be real loud or anything, but just something more and better sounding than stock.

I figure I have three options:

1.) The whole exhaust -find a 4Cyl camry header (where can i find one?) or a celica header and mod it for the Camry, build new exhaust pipes from the header and get a new muffler.

2.) Build new exhaust pipes for from the stock manifold and downpipe back and a new muffler.

3.) Cut off the old muffler and slap on a new one.

I have no clue as to how restrictive the stock exhaust manifold and pipes are, so I'm not sure what I should do. Will it be worth the time, money and effort to do the header and new pipes (I have lots of time, and not a ton of money)? Or do most of you just do a new muffler? Or is the whole thing just a waste of time?

well this all depends on how much your willing to spend and if your lookin to pick up a little power or dont really care. if you jsut want a better sound then jsut get a good muffler and be done with it.

What do you think I could do with, say, $350? Thats the most I would want to spend.

i say go with the full exhaust as well, but that might cost a little bit more than 350. you can always save up a little more lol. ebay has celics 4-1 manifolds and downpipe, form there add on 2.25 custom exhaust, hi flo cat and a muffler. will free up tiny bit of power along with an inake, while sounding good, i would say maybe 500 - 600, depends on your exhaust man.

like bigbird said, IF your looking for power. if not forget the catback you will still have the small stock pipe and manifold up front plus a stock cat.

either just a muffler or a full exhaust.

As an added question, if I took off the cat, would I gain any power if I just had the regular exhaust, or with a new muffler. Or would it just be incredibly too loud.

If I did a full exhaust, how much power would I be gaining?

I'm in Michigan, so no emmisions test to pass

catalytic converters on toyotas aren't restrictive at all.- it'd run the same but with more rasp.
