4th Generation when to replace a timing belt?

At what milage should I be concerned about replacing the timing belt?

I have a 2000 Camry ce 4cyl, with about 120000 KM. I bought it second hand about 3 years ago and as far as I know its still on the original belt.

Also, anyone know if the Camry engine is the type of engine which could self destruct if the belt snaps? I hear some engines shut down and others self destruct.

If the belt breaks, the engine will just stop. Replace it and you're back on the road.

Here in the states, the timing belt should be replaced every 90K miles for Gen 4.

I change things like that "on condition" not at a set mileage. The dealer told me it is a non-interference engine and no damage if it breaks. I pull back the plastic upper cover every oil change and inspect it.
