FYI Retractor

Just wanted to share my last issue with my 96 Camry DX (130K miles). My front driver side seat belt did not want to retract and I had a loose belt all over the front seat. It made me mad cause my wife's 94 Honda has not seen that problem.

Thus, I looked around the forum and noticed that some people had problems here and there. Anyway to make a long story short. I called a dealer in Texas and had it for around $125 and told me that he had to charge me $70 for shipping since the part had an explosive device (haz mat charge). Which IMO I don't think it had one. So, I made the executive decision to just buy it at the local (SF Bay area) stealership. Called around and the lowest I found with tax and $1.25 (BS fee) came to $166.

Took the two panels apart, remove the sleves from the 14mm bolts and remove the 10mm bolt. Removed the old part, put the new one in, removed (with needle plyers) the white round clips (put them back on the plastic panel), snapped on the panel, and the snapped the front panel back. And DONE.

I was curious on how much was for labor so I asked the stealership and they wanted $200+. Called another independent and they just left me hanging on the phone.

4th Generation

FYI - Honda has a lifetime warranty on their seatbelts. I took in a Honda Accord because the seatbelt frayed. They checked that it wasn't cut by a knife and replaced it all for free.
