3rd Generation Misfiring, Loud Vibrations, and other annoyances with my Gen3

I have two main problems with my Camry right now. 1) It misfires at low RPM. 2) there is a loud vibration coming from exhaust pipe. I will elaborate on both.

1) When the car is in park or neutral idling at around 1k RPM, it will misfire maybe once a minute. When the car is in drive with brake is applied (idling ~800) it misfires considerably more, about once every 3 seconds. When it is in reverse while brake is applied (idling ~600) it's even worse, around twice a second. Whenever I'm actually driving, it doesn't misfire at all. It's only when I'm at a stoplight pretty much. Now when I say misfiring, I mean there is no firing at all.
I'm assuming since it's not firing it's an ignition problem. I would guess I should start with the distributor since it seems like perhaps it's not contacting correctly at low speed. What do you think? Also, I will be replacing the spark plugs and wires too; What kind of spark plugs does it use and where can I find the wires with the same boot as the original wires?

2) This is my most annoying problem (next to my slippy transmission, but thats a whole different story). Here's the problem: Whenever the car is accelerating, all you can hear is a very loud annoying rattling noise. The problem occurs in the flex pipe coming from the manifold going to the cat converter. If I drive the car onto stands and have a look underneath, I see a little accordion section of the pipe. before that section I notice a small rusted spot. I have someone rev the engine and I take a look at it. It looked like there a piece of rust on the inside of the pipe that was partially attached. When the engine was revved, you could see the little piece rattling and you could feel exhaust escaping from that point. Now I don't really feel like spending $100 on a new pipe of $50 for a junkyard one. I'm wondering if there is a simple way to seal up this leak. Is there a type of patch and sealant I could use that can withstand the heat and not damage the cat converter?

One other question I have concerns brakes. I have a '92 Camry LE w/ 5SFE. Are the rear brakes disk or drum?

A good exhaust shop can fix the flex section cheap, if they all want to charge you 20 bucks for labor and 80 bucks for a flex section buy one off ebay for nothing and have them weld that on. It shouldn;t cost you more than $50 to fix the exhaust.

As for the mifsire make sure your plugs and cap and rotor are all good, if not replace them if needed and see if that helps. Also you should probably clean the egr system as it will gunk up and stick open, that will cause misfiring.

As for the brakes just look at the front, those are disc. If the back does not look like the front then solve for x
