airbag light and A/C question

Hi,

I have read the posts about the airbag light reset procedures, and I have tried it without success. The only thing I get is the light flashes four times and then once.

My question is this. I took my fan motor and housing out to check the expansion valve. I took my car to a mechanic and let him do the A/C retrofit conversion. He called me in to pick the car up to put the fan housing and fan together, so I did. When I got in the car I noticed a blown 10 amp fuse lying on the floor board and that the airbag light stayed on.

Once I put the crap together I took it back to the mechanic to check the a/c system and I asked about the airbag light. He said he had the car running, fan swith on and connected the fan to the connector and blew the fuse and all the dash lights went out and the fan controls did not work, and the light has stayed on eversince.

So, my question is, Am I doing the light clearing procedure wrong, or do I have another problem?

Thanks in advance to those who help.

BTW, the mechanic did not want to fix the light, he said it is not his fault the light is on, so I did not pay him the full asking price for the job.

Means your SRS system is not working. Airbags will not deploy.

It could be that the module got toasted. We tried clearing my light as well, but won't because of that. The module is located underneath the center column at the back. If you switch it, make sure that you have the battery disconnected!

Air Bag Light Reset

Hey fellow Toyotaholics, here is another fix for the AIR BAG "LIGHT ON" FIX.
Thanks for the info on the air bag light reset trick..

I replaced my evaporator expansion valve which fixed my AC problem. The commpressor worked and it had freon but no cold. Quite the repair. I had to remove the dash and upper vents to get the blower housing off. Along with th repair

I removed the passenger side air bag to get room for the repair and of coarse the first step is to DISCONNECT THE NEG on the battery.

Aftr the install and testing the AC I saw that the Air Bag light stayed on. after reading A LOT. I found that it needed reset.

The first couple of times I tried it ..Didnt seem to work.. But I kept at it and..........WALAH!

The light finally did the fast flash (telling me that the SRS trouble has been reset).

AT THIS POINT I KEPT THE KEY IN THE "ON" POSITION While I disconnected the Tc to ground.

I looked and the light was still OFF... STARTED THE CAR. Let it run for 5 Min.

Turned off the car let it sit a few then tried it again and NO MORE LIGHT which means I saved the reset money to the dealer and I have a safe car with air bags that work.

THANK YOU FOR THE RESET FIX
