best spark plugs

I searched but could find no clear answer.. What are the best spark plugs for a 1992 5SFE engine?? I just seafoamed it, and would now like to change the plugs. the car has the original wires from 1992 on it too.

Thanks,
adam

please refer to your car manual for what kind of spark plugs you need to buy. look back couple last pages in your manual for spark plug spec...

I would call toyota dealer to see how much they sell per spark plug. You can buy online
http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...&siteid=214074
..

online is cheaper than dealer... the part you get online is OEM part... DEALER charges too high...

Denso or NGK for plugs and wires.

Dunno...just use platinum plugs, no need for double platinums. Should only be $2 to $3 each and not much difference in price compared to copper plugs. Just get the regular wires from Denso or NGK, those racing wires probably won't make enough of a difference for you to notice.

ok on platinum NGK's. Can I get them from my local auto store?? Is there a number on the plug that I should ask for?? On my SVT, I'd use autolite double platinums. I just want a good plug, that will last a long time.

Thanks,
Adam

I seafoamed the engine using about 2/3rds of the can, and didn't foul out any plugs. I can tell the car runs even better. It has 104,000 on the engine, and the wires are from 1992. I am guessing the cap and rotor are too as well as the plugs. Whens a good time to replace all that?? I think for the time being, i will just replace the plugs.

Wow nice find! Just go to any auto parts store and get the base spark plugs offered, no need for expensive as they aren't any better and the engine won't care at all. Replace the cap and rotor like everyone mentioned, I would check the EGR system as well since they tend to gunk up and it will improve gas mileage, enjoy the car!

thanks for the help! ok on the plugs....I will do just that. How hard is it to replace the cap and rotor? I have never done this, and don't want to screw something up. LOL.. It is a great car!! for being 16 years old, I have no complaints. How do you check the EGR system?? apply vacuum and see if the engine stumbles??

These are your exact OE plugs. I have had bad luck in modern engines using alternate designs from what the engineers intended. These are double platinum so they will last a long time, probably at least 60,000 miles.

I just bought these a little while ago, but have yet to put them in.

They were only ~$6

I would just make sure you get either NGK or Denso, whether it be platinum or iridium.

Rule-of-Thumb is to use the factory plug (NGK). When you use fancy plugs it may or probably will have a different heat range. Some engineer spent a lot of time to figure the right factory plug... BKR6ES-11 or BKR6E-11...

There really isn't a need to use double platinums on pre-97 5S-FE. Just get the regular platinums.

I don't think it makes a difference between those two plugs. Just toss a coin.

For not much more, I'd get the BKR6EGP.

Don't forget the dielectric grease and anti-seize stuff.

I thought the OEM plugs were Denso, since most everything on ours cars is?
