the belt that goes around the alt. the AC pump, and IDK what the other pully is. How do you know if this belt is on too tight?? I open my hood, and see small little black pieces, and think its from that belt. its very new, and I don't want to ruin it. how do you loosen it??

the alternator can be adjusted to tighten/loosen the belt.

Take it to a mechanic and have him tension it to the right specs.

Any chance that the little pieces are hard little slivers? The plastic cover of magnetic clutch of the air conditioner melted on my 95 Camry. This was a photo:

There were black melted pieces all around where the belt had slung them. Also there was hardened black ooze between the AC pulley and the AC body. You may be able to see that in the photo.

Oh, by the way if you can twist the fan belt at least 90 degrees (in the middle between the two pulleys) it's probably OK. A mechanic can put a much more accurate gauge on it.

hmmmm idk about the black plastic pieces. does this cause problems with the AC system?? I will check with my local mechanic and have him look at the belt tension.
