3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Ive had this car for going on 5 years now and its been great to me. I tossed around the idea of throwing the turbo on it many times and just finally decided instead of spending a ton of money and not getting the performance I want, I will move on instead. I just received a job offer and should be making some pretty decent money. I will be saving all extra cash for about 6 months or so and then picking up an SC300. I have big plans for that car and wanted to stick with my true love of Toyota's so it was the obvious choice. I thank you all for the help I have received off this forum over the years and Ill still be active on here.
if i were you i wouldnt spend time on another old car (like the SC300) when there are bigger and better things out there that come with all the benefits of being newer...
building a camry isnt for everyone, so if youre ready for a new car then go for it! ... no reason to spend all that money on your gen 4 if youre just gonna end up wanting something else after it, so its best to quit before youve started

Yea, I put alot of time sweat and money into this over the years and now that Ill be earning more money Im ready for something else. I have always loved Supra's. Im hoping to run the SC with the regular 2jzge for awhile with full suspension upgrades and rims and then later down the road its going to be a full swap over to the 2jzgte. I thought about going with a newer car just because the benefit of a newer car is not having to replace worn out parts but at the same time, I dont want to have a car payment and after interning with Enjuku Racing in Orlando, FL I can honestly save I have been bitten by the drifting bug.
I thought about that but every 16 year old kid with rich parents around here has an IS. I like to keep things different. There are only about 2 SC's riding around with anything done to them here and one just has rims and the other is a bodykit and paintjob on stock wheels. Im just gonna try to pick up an SC that has relatively low miles and since most of the car will be getting upgrades I dont have to worry about many old parts. If I were to decide against the SC the only other options would be a non turbo Supra or a GS300.
Damn man you just told me you had more plans for the Cam haha. I've only seen about 2 nice SC's rolling around our area too. A red one and a white one, both are equally modded.

I have been wanting to get rid of the Camry for a SC300/400 or a LS400 for a while now. Camry is a great car and I get a lot of compliments for being unique, but I want to upgrade to RWD and something a little quicker and more mod-friendly (LS400 I wouldn't mod).
8 PSI, 325HP and Torque... lol... I have seen this car on the road... For what its worth, its fucking bad ass... I have NEVER seen anything like this....
Currently, car is dynoed at 324.5 rwhp and 324.7 rwtq at 8 psi without intercooler. I am sure that I can push it to 350 rwhp with more tuning and an intercooler. The stock 90 LS400 was dynoed at 172 rwhp. That is about 152 rwhp increase. That is about 20 rwhp per pound of boost. The car pulls very hard after 3000 rpm to redline. The dyno result on 01-30-03 was using stock fuel system. Please see dyno result http://www.lextreme.com/Dyno.htm I can not wait to see Stage II with estimated 500 rwhp. I would like to take this sleeper to the track and find out what this beast can do in 0-60, 1/4 mile and so on. I would not be surprise to see low to mid 13 seconds with proper traction and driving skills. Currently, my spare engine is being build by a 36 years of experience engine builder. He was one of the original engine builder for the legendary Carol Shelby in the 60's. The new engine is getting custom JE Dish pistons with over bored .020" along with O-ring head and groove block and ARP head studs and few other boost friendly goodies.
