low temp thermostat

Hey guys I'm looking for a low temperture thermostat for the 1mz. I was looking at TRD 160 thermostats but they're kinda spendy and I saw some 170 temps for other cars thats were a lot cheaper like 20 bucks. do you guys know a low temp thermostat that isn't 100 bucks?

oh another question what car is the 2az motor in?

i just got a generic lower temp one for like 40 bucks from an autoparts store. cheap but works just fine.

oh yeah?! is it a 170? can I get a part number from you. my car has been overheating due to the setup.

but for real....check and double check the rest of your cooling system- water pump, fan, rad (if it's gunked up at all), because if you're overheating, just getting a lower temp thermostat may not help, since the v6 cooling system is very capable of holding a lot of power. If anything, you should run no thermostat and see if that solves your problem first....then, if it is, then change your thermostat

Thanks king. got the part numbers. my cooling system is clean. I recently overhauled it. since I leaned out my car its been getting really hot and the 97 degree weather here isn't helping. this is actually the first times I have ever seen the temp gauge go up on this car since the radiator is so big. MOTOR IS HOT!!!! can't even touch the throttle linkage bare handed anymore. you supercharged guys running hot?

hmmm.....yeah, I'm very surprised too then, since the cooling system is well designed even for high power...


and nope...not at all...runs pretty cool if the thermostat and the fan is running....
