1996 Camry CD player problem

I recently bought an official branded single slot CD player off ebay for my Camry, I have just successfully recieved and installed it - it is definetely installed correctly as the radio says 'AUX' and the CD player lights come on - however when I put any CD in, it spins for about 4 seconds then rejects it, then sucks it back in, and rejects it again. This goes on until I press eject.

Has anyone got an explanation for this?
Thanks in advance
