Just bought....

hey all, just bought a 99 Camry 5 speed today. its got some scratches on and around the body, couple of scratches on the dash nothing serious. its got a little rust under the body pretty normal for a mn car. but when i took it home i noticed when turning the steering wheel i heard clinking noises. i think its the axles. also smelling burning rubber when i shift into first. kinda weird. any thoughts? suggestions? solutions?

if its a loud clunk it may just be a bad strut mount.

Make a few left and right hand turns at slow speeds. Determine if the clicking noise occurs in one direction and not the other.

Try listening to hear if the clicking increases frequency when you increase speed going in a straight line. I've heard that's usually indicative of a bad wheel bearing. That's what mine is doing at the moment coupled with what I believe to be a bad CV joint on the same side
