I have a friend who repainted the interior of his BMW. I'm not sure what paint he used, but it ended up looking good.

I know they have that krylon paint that chemically bonds to plastic/vinyl surfaces. I've never used it before though, so I can't say how well it holds up.

Using interior vinyl dies is just like painting the body of a car, 95% of it is prep work. As long as you scuff the surface, use a vinyl primer if available, and use the dye correctly, it will last just like from the factory.

I've actually been slowly re-wrapping all the vinyl in my car. I hate that taupe-y color and want the orange-brown leather color that I see in BMWs and such.

I figure that as I am doing an apprenticeship as a bespoke tailor, if I'm able to make a suit fit a 350lb man I would be able to fit the pieces of vinyl over the dash. It's a very tedious process and rather time-consuming but I'm happy with the results so far. I'll post pictures (and possibly a DIY, if I have time), once I have finished a little bit more.

That's the only paint I use, I used it on plastic, fiberglass, metal and even wood. Dries super fast and it HOLDS. It's also strong, I used it on a piece of plastic that needed a little bending, no cracks or peel. I just recommend that you use a clear coat with Krylon to make the bond even stronger.

GOOD TIP: Use paint thinner to clean the parts and take your time on this step to make sure you have the strongest bond as possible
