rear lights not working

Hi guys,
I just realized the other night that on my 2001 Camry my rear lights aren't working, even though there's no warning light at all on the dashboard. I haven't driven in the night lately so I don't know how long this has gone on. Essentially, with my headlights on, there's no light at all on the back. The signal/hazard lights and brake lights are all working though. I took a quick look at the wires through the truck hinge and didn't see any broken wires.

Not sure if it's related, but maybe a month or so ago I did notice that when I unlock the car using my keyless remote, none of the lights blinked like they used to.

Please help!

Mike

Always check the easy stuff first. It could be as simple as bad bulbs. It's not impossible. Fusebox should be checked for sure. If not these, I would unplug and reconnect any plug ins in the wiring harness while the lights were "on" and have a buddy watch the tails to see if there is any flickering of the lights.

Good luck!

Here are the symptoms:
- no rear lights at all when headlights are on (critical!)
- none of the lights (front & rear) blink as they used to when I press keyless remote to unlock the car (not as critical)

The rear lights that should be on (but are not) when the headlights are on are the same as the brake lights, which are working fine. All the bulbs checked out fine, so I don't think it's the fuse either (or could it?).

Is it possible that the keyless entry control is broken and is interfering with the lights? How do I test for this? Since I don’t have to have the keyless entry, is there any easy way to disable it so I can get the lights working again?

Thanks!
