Spun out

My cam spun out of control today. I was driving down a dirt road, and yeah kicking all the dirt up was fun until I was going a little fast downhill into a 120 degree bend, it was ok when I hit the brakes but as soon as I passed the bend the thing skidd and spun inward (behind wheels drifted forward), putting my car sideway across the road. I was scared shitless...none the less, I've could have ended up on the bottom of the hill... I don't think my car has ABS, I need to learn to drift with FWD, bald tires and broken foot e-brake and die in the process.

^Yeah I was going to say that too. And even if you do go "sideways" its not drifting if its FWD. It goes against the definition of a drift. You shouldn't go beyond the skills you know you have. Atleast not if there's a possibility of driving off a hill. And don't do anything you're not willing to pay for.

I would think an XLE V6 would have ABS. But either way, ABS will only do so much in gravel. You have a foot e-brake?

Yeah well, not attempting, but now whenever i need to make a turn at speed, i'm a little bit feared. I always wanted to put on a TRD sway bar but I think it'll make it worse. Next car gotta be AWD or RWD.

They call that "losing control of your car" OR "driving way over your head".

WOW!

I have to disagree. I find that urbandictionary.com puts it into the best words:

DRIFTING IS: The art of driving a car sideways through a corner whilst maintaining effective wheelspin.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/defin...t&defid=371490

A drift is just when some wheels have more traction than others, resulting in a non linear motion of the car.

I can do that in a FWD car, can't you? It helps that I live in Michigan and they don't plow all the parking lots around here

(ironically, they dont plow all of the highschool parking lot, the leave about half of it unplowed, like the plowers know we want to have fun in it)

false - drifting is just controlled oversteer, judged by Speed, Line, and Angle

dont try sliding on a dirt road with your camry - its pointless especially if your only guidance is Trial & Error

I just say plainly don't do it; If you never done it. or start small and work up. I have driven farm roads all my life. The best way to drift is is a RWD. I dont like a true AWD trying to slide. If you dont know what your doing youll be sitting in the ditch for sure. An it is not as easy as it looks in a rally car.

where do you live? Back in Troy they plowed the roads like every 5 min. Anyways when i lived in michigan I drifted in my gen 4 5s-fe. I find its best to drift when their is a little frost on the ground. When the ground is covered in snow, its impossible to keep control of your car.
