Sound System

I have 2 10" kicker 600 watt subs all wired up to a 1500 watt amp with a 1.5 fared capacitor and i keep blowing the amp fuse. My car also dims when the music is up higher the 15 at night. It dims when bass hits i don't know whats wrong. Any suggestions?

Your system is drawing too many amps, this is showing up in the dim lights when hitting the base notes.

The cap can help some with the bass but only so much.

Make sure the speaker ohm rating is wired right to the amp.

Might go for a 130A alternator.

You should be running at least 4ga wire in and out of the amp. Never cheap out on the ground. You can short out the amp and start a fire if it's not at least the same thickness as the positive. How big of a fuse are you running? That much wattage, I would be using at least a 60amp fuse, maybe 80. But that's also going to depend on the quality of the amp. I was using a 40amp on my 240watt old school Orion and it blew that several times, so I upped it to 50amps. Also check the wiring on the speaker, make sure it's not crossing. If one of the subs is bad, it'll cause the fuse to blow also. What gauge speaker wire are you using, what ohm are they, and how do you have them hooked up (series or parallel).

I'm going to install the four gauge wire tonight to see if it helps i will also get bigger inline fuses for the amp. My alternator showed be in the mail sometime this week, and i have a friend that can make the OEM alternator push out more amps. I will post pics up soon when im all done. It looks like i will have to run the wire under the carpet.
