GEN 3 water pump replacement

Is it possible to replace the water pump without disturbing the water pump cover? Trying to determine if I need to buy a thermostat gasket, water by-pass pipe gasket or the two orings as shown in the illustration below?

Need more info. on your car..

NORMALLY YOU CAN REUSE YOUR OLD GASKET THAT COME WITH YOUR ORGINAL OF YOUR CAR... 99% THE OLD GASKET IS STILL GOOD... WHEN YOU BUY THE THERMOSTIC, THE GASKET COME WITH THE UNIT...IF YOU BUY AFTERMAKET THERMASTIC, THEN THE GASKET A LITTLE DIFF...BUT YOU CAN REUSE YOUR OLD GASKET TO INSTALL... NOT SURE WHAT YEAR OF YOUR CAR...BUT I WOULD GO OEM...BUY ONLINE WOULD BE CHEAPER FOR OEM PARTS... OR CALL TOYOTA DEALERS TO SEE HOW MUCH COST...

LINKS FOR TOYOTA OEM
http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...&siteid=214074

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY THE GASKET...WHEN YOU BUY THE WATER PUMP, THE RUBBER GASKET COME WITH THE WATER PUMP.. SO YOU HAVE TO USE NEW RUBBER GASKET WHEN YOU INSTALL THEM...
HINTS... USE LITTLE PVC SILICON ROB AROUND THE RUBBER WITH SILICON SO IT HOLDS BETTER WHEN YOU INSTALL THE WATER PUMP... GO OEM SILICON...ONLY LESS THAN 20 BUCKS..OF YOU DECIDE GO AFTEMARKET, BUY SILICON FROM NAPA (BLUE LONG TUBE)...DO NOT USE HOME DEPOT PCV SILICON FOR CAR!!! BETTER QUALITY I THINK...READ TO MAKE SURE IT SUBSTAND HIGH TEMP. WHEN YOU TAKE OUT YOUR OLD THERMOSTAC, LOOK AT CAREFULLY HOW THE OLD THERMOSTIC POSITION WITH THE DOT..SO PUT BACK THE SAME WAY WITH NEW RUBBER AND POSITION THE SAME WAY..

HOPE THIS HELP ANSWER YOUR QUESTION....

I have a '96 Camry 2.2L Automatic with 5S-FE engine. I already ordered a timing belt kit that comes with aftermarket water pump and gasket. I was planning to replace the gasket. No mention of silicone in Haynes manual. Is this necessary? Please confirm.

Do I need to remove both water pump and water pump cover? See the illustration. Or can I replace water pump only? Please advise.

you just replaced water pump only... HINTS... when you put the rubber gasket around the water pump in place (fit good).. to keep the rubber from moving when you installed back into the house... a little silicon on the surface will help keep the rubber from moving when you install...just a little smear on the surface around the rubber gasket... it helps do the trick.... remember OEM water pump last longer than 60K ..for 95 toyota model..timebelt recommend change interval around 60k..so if you buy water pump aftermarket..keep that in mind...you can go over 60k but don't expect go 90-100k... aftermaket water pump should be fine, but just keep in mind...normally, i keep record how many mile i change water pump and add 60k (next timebelt)..next time you look at the record, you know when you need to change again...
