Fan's not operating, acting like its not getting fuel during start
Hey, i've had two problems pop up recently and i'd love to know if anyone here can guide me in the right direction:
i noticed my car overheating today, so i stopped a few times to check it
basic info:
1995 Camry - I4 - Auto
Electric Fans - do not run.
Heater blows HOT air and only gets hotter as tempatures go up
when my tempature gauge starts climbing past normal, i can switch on my heater full blast and it keeps tempatures fine
the fans DO NOT run, i never once heard them kicking on, and stopped multiple times to check.
another problem:
while starting, the engine is acting like its not getting enough fuel, if i hold the gas and it eventually starts, keep it at 1.5-2k RPM's it quickly starts to function fine, even while sitting still.
i am assuming these problems could be related, i have searched the word "fan" on the gen 3&4 forum here, and each one that sounded similar to me their heater did NOT work and the waterpump was gone, none of them mentioned sluggish start
just to be sure, i'm going to start the car in the morning and check if the bottom of it is cold after a run around the block, and see if the A/C fan comes on when i turn on my non-working a/c
if anyone thinks any more information would be helpful, i'll try to round up anything you might need. thanks!
Fans, could be the relay. It's too late for me to check which relay right now, but I will tomorrow if no one else answers.
A/C, may just need a recharge, out of refridgerent. Did the problem just come one day, or have you notices the AC slowly getting warmer as the weeks went on? Also, if there is no refridgerent in the system, the AC system won't turn on.
For the start issue, is it every time? Includine both warm AND cold starts? Also, how long has it been happening? If it has only been a few days, it may be some water int he gas, in which case, throw a bottle of Dry Gas in it (like $1.50). I've had that issue a couple times. Usually would pop up the day after I filled up.

5 Lug Corolla WHAT?
here is four possibilities you might have the problems...
1) check fan relay, then if the fan relay is OK.. go step 2
2) with engine run.. turn AC on then look if both your fans are running
if two fans are running..then you know your fan motor is still working OK.
3) if the fan doesn't kick on when you turn on AC then you have bad fan (motor that run the fan goes bad).. Also look on the wire that go into the fan (wire cilp snap on)..what color..it should red and one white color with snap clip on the fan motor..what fan electrical wire color you have on your car? look around the fan and you see a wire that come out from the motor and snap on other wire...you color code right there..
4) if all the above ok.then you need check cooling temp.sensor on your car...get a manual to locate...either the sensor under your radiator..only way you can see ...when the engine is COOL.(turn engine OFF)...CAUTION...KEEP YOUR HAND OFF BOTH fans when doing this...BE SAFE rather feel sorry... take your hand...and feel under radiator where the big radiator hose and feel around there..they should be a electrical wire and a sensor that mount to the radiator...that sensor could be bad... or your cooling temp. sensor bad...
when you engine get hot, the sensor tell ECM that your engine is hot than normal...the fan kick on... this can be fix easy...the aftermarket sensor should works fine... cheaper than dealer...
hope this helps to troubleshoot or narrow down your problem..
easy way go get new ECT sensor switch (Electric Cooling Temperature)to put the sensor in... if it doesn't work, clean really good and return.. i pretty sure your sensor went bad..
Can someone comments on how to jump 12vdc battery to each fan to see if the fan is still running?
Anyone has any diagram to show how to test each of the fan ?
THE FAN CUT ON NOW, when the engine gets HOT(normal). So it turns out to be the thermostic was the problem....maybe you have stuck thermostac ..and I didn't think and forgot about thermostac, too...
At least you got your car back on the road again...
