3rd Generation Short Ram intake sucking oil out of engine?

A couple weeks ago my car broke down 300 miles away from my home because the transmission blew. i got it towed through my provider near my aunts house in Mass. the guy took a look at the car, said it definitely needs a new tranny. he also said there was oil in my Weapon-R intake pipe and in the filter... recommended i replace the intake with the stock air filter system... does anyone have any thoughts on that? i dont understand how that could happen...

some oil will leak in there from time to time but its not a real problem. no more then the stock air box anyways.

if you notice, the valve cover has a nipple coming off the driver side of it with a hose that either goes to the intake piping or the intake plenum itself, depending on which engine you have ...

oil can go right through there, called blow-by ... happens with turbo cars, so they employ a catch can between the line - the cars are setup this way from the factory

a lot of oil coming through will indicate a problem, not with the intake, but on the engine-side of the equation ... a small amount is probably nothing to worry about

I noticed this as well. Not because i have oil in my air intake system, but because there is oil around the nipple/hose and i think it's leaking. What is this for?
