My camry seem to get really hot really fast. I don't have to drive very far and the motor seem to be unusually hot. It's a 4 cyl, is that the way it's supposed to be?

When was the last service on coolant ?

when was the last time the cooling system was serviced? check the collant and thermostat.

Check the coolant in the radiator too. Not just in the overflow tank. Ofcourse when the car is cold. Although I'm not sure if you can on a Camry, on my V6 I can't look inside the radiator.

stuck thermostat, low coolent, air pocket, blocked line... change the thermostat, flush the system and pour in some new coolent.

The temp gauge stays normal it just throws off a ton of heat for little driving. I'll try a coolant flush

i had the same issue a little while back with my '94. i changed to coolant and everything was fine.

a lot of people jumping to conclusions here ...

first, is the temp gauge indicating anything? no codes? ... does it just "feel" hot or what?

Yeah, what you may think is hot, could be completely normal.

Engines do run hot. What indication do you have that makes you think it's too hot?
