Oil filter assembly question

Well, once again, my oil filter assembly is leaking again so it looks like the seal will have to be replaced.
The question is, is there a specific way this needs to be done and anything to watch out for? I'm not entirely sure how they fit on, where the seal goes etc as I'm still learning bout the engine [92 V6] and I know its hidden underneath the exhaust manifold.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is a pic of a 5S-FE, but I believe the 3VZ-FE has a simillar setup.
I have a repair manual at home, I'll try to post info tonight when I get home.

There is similar seal (O-ring) between oil cooler and engine block pictured above. and if you have not had a chance to, tighten the oil filter threaded stud with an open ended wrench. If the oring has never been changed, it is a good time to do that.

On my gen4 4cyl and V6 there is no oil cooler. filter seals to block.

^ plus 1. If you have been getting leaks after using multiple oil filters, then it's most likely not the filters that are leaking. There is a big o-ring that seals the assembly to the engine block. That seal sometimes leaks. Cheap and easy fix. Try tightenting the assembly first as Hajoca suggested. If that doesn't stop the leak, then replace the o-ring.

The o-ring is less than $10 and I had to get it at the lexus dealer because they evidently put more 3vz-fe in them than toyota? Anywho, I bought it, have yet to put it on, but here is my thread about it (with pictures)

3vz-fe oil filter adapter

and another thread that has the part number in there...

I definitely know it's the assembly that's leaking. I've picked up the o-ring already. When I changed the PCV valve it stopped, but it's started seaping again. Will see if can get easily give it a tightening before I hit the road tomorrow afternoon. With a bit of luck it'll work, but will need to be replaced eventually as I think it's probably the original one.
