2000 Camry V6 Hood Replacement

I need advice, the paintwork on my car's hood does not look good at all, I don't know how to explain it except that it's not very shiny. I was wondering what it would entail to replace the whole hood. I checked my local Toyota dealer and they have it listed at around $460. Is this right? I found this website http://www.car-stuff.com/mmparts/toyota-camry/hood.html that has them for around $100. Also is this something that is difficult to replace myself, I'm really a beginner when it comes to cars. Thanks.

Take a picture! It sounds like your clearcoat has worn out, but depending on the damage, it can be fixed for much less than that, especially if the damage is not too bad and you do it yourself.

Otherwise, you can try getting it repainted, and I'm not sure if hoods from Toyota come painted, or is just bare metal, maybe someone more informed can fill in on this.

BUT, definitely take a picture, it'll make it easier for us to assess the damage and give you some sound advice.

Not a great pic of the hood, i'll try to get a better one up but i think if you look closely you can see areas that are matte or kind of faded. If the pic doesn't show here's the link. http://www.toyotanation.com/photos/s...=11670&cat=522

From that picture, I think your clearcoat's starting to show early signs of sun damage. No need to replace the entire hood. A good body shop should be able to fix that for less than the price of a replacement hood + paint.

It gives you the code on the bottom!

Anyway, yea, the damage isn't too great, but it'd prolly be easier to take it to a body shop. There's no need to replace the hood, since there's no physical damage. Worst case scenario is a respray.
