4th Generation 2000 v6 Brake booster

I have a question for anyone with knowledge on this subject. I have a 2000 v6 Camry LE and the brake booster has gone bad. Shocked a bit that this went out on the car in the first place, but they (local dealer) have had it for nearly two weeks.

They have tried two different Toyota ones and as of today two aftermarket ones. They tell me they plan to talk to Toyota corp. more and hopefully come out with a solution. Has anyone else had this problem?

It is frustrating, because it has been a great car. They gave me a loaner XB and it is fun, but I miss my car.

I have not.

What was the problem in the first place? booster (black can) is usually a simple replacement, and adjustment of the push rod at the master cylinder.

The replacements do not work?

frustrated

To keep this from being a novel...
I took it in and they said the brake booster was shot.
They tried 2 Toyota ones AND
2 aftermarket ones.

I then complained about not getting fixed and got a loaner over a week ago.
Woo hoo. At least I can get to work.

As of today they tell me there are no brake boosters in the lower 48 that will fit my car.

They are currently waiting on an email from Japan on what to do. I asked how hard is it to make one and send it? Their reply good question.

This makes me want to call around to junk yards to see if there are any.

I plan to call Toyota and give them an earful.

Pray yours does not go out.

Oh also apparently none of the tubing lines up, so they may try to rig something to work. Sounds safe.....?

Booster shot, meaning your brake pedal was hard to push?

Replaced booster (many times) and what happened after each change?

Suggest you remain business like with Toyota and the dealer, they can and do distance owners (even on warranty claims). They seem to be doing their best, of course frustrating for you but it will not make things easier for you if you piss them off.

The brakes can still work without the booster operating. The only hose on the booster is a vacuum line, if required this can be rerouted and work as good as new. If for some reason it is the actual brake lines on the master cylinder, then would be concerned.
