4th Generation Monroe Quick Strut part number

Calling Mike Gerber and others out there who have experience ordering these for a 98 4 banger. I got 2 part number for the front and 2 for the back. It seems like one of the part number shows 3 chassic code while the other one only one. Which one should I order? Thanks for the input.

The left and right side struts are different, so they have different part numbers. The front and back are also different, so there should be 4 part numbers in total, if you are putting them on all 4 conners. I only put these on the rear of my 98 Camry. This was about 2 years ago. Then (should still be the same today) the part numbers for the rears were: PASSENGER'S SIDE 171680ST and the DRIVER'S SIDE 171681ST. If the auto parts store you are dealing with is having a problem getting these right, then find another parts store IMHO. These are usually special order from most places, so they usually sill not take them back. When I ordered them Pep Boys had the best price in my area.

On the Gen3, both the front strut mounts are the same part number and both the rears are the same part number. So he may be correct in only having 2 part numbers for the whole car.

He has a 98 Camry, so it's a generation 4.

kamrhee,

Another thought would be to contact Monroe directly yourself and get the part numbers from them. Try their website to see if they list an 800 number in their "contact us" section or a link where you can email them.

4th Generation

Thanks for all the input Mike, xtremeskier and Camry Racing. I had kyb gas shocks as replacements and found them to be fine. Its just that it was the mechanic that fixed all four suspension pieces about 4 years ago. Its time to change it since I feel it has gone soft. I'm doing all corners myself and kind of short on clams to be paying someone to do this plus Im going to be dealing with hub bearing assembly on all 4 wheels (thats another story).

I'll try Monroe and see if they can make some sense into these parts number. Another thing that I like about these is that it comes with new spring. After 10 years, I don't know the condition of the stock springs if it has sagged plus you don't need to second guess all of the small items in between.
