4th Generation 97 camry master power window switch

Hey All

97 camry le

I'm having an intermittent problem with my driver's side power window. The window goes down smoothly every time but when I try to put it back up the window only goes up 1"-4" at a time. I have to wait a few minutes between each time I click the switch to put the window up. So far I have taken out the whole switch assembly from the door, taken off the top plate, and begun to separate the black cover from the white housing that holds the connectors, etc. I have taken out the 3 small phillips screws but the cover is hung up on the window lock out switch.

Does anyone know how to remove that switch? It's like a cap on the post but I'm nervous to try and pop it off because I might break it.

Also any advice on my window problem? I'm guessing it is the switch but any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

The problem is not your switches, it your power window motor. I've had the same problem for over a year now and just replaced mine yesterday. Find an autoparts store that stocks just the motor, the regulator should be fine.

Following SnakeyeS' logic you might try wiring direct to the motor. If the window hesitates the same way then his point is probably correct. If the window works the way it should then continue tracking down your bad contact, broken wire or short.

You may find the pictures in the following post helpful:

From your description, if it isn't the motor, I wonder if filing down the nibs on the finger switch might not help.
