3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
well i have the option to get one of two lighting sets for my car. either replace the inrtument panel, since i already have aftermarket lights in the gauge cluster (see below) or i could get a neon under body kit.. what do you all think? thanks for your opinion!
If you get neon, get orange or amber so you can have it on while you drive (just like the lights on a semi-truck ). Personally, I would do the neon this week, and then the gauges next week.
U need some cover to isolate the shifting gear light with speedometer light. Beside, the blue on the right corner wasn't bright enough to light up the fuel gauge and the "140" mark, in other another words, inequally light distribution, i doubt u thought about that while installing. But most of all, the blending in of different color in the middle make it looks rice and tell me it's a half ass job ...
well if you knew about your car youd kno that it comes isolated and just blends really well, as you can see from this picture i just took and also i havent had time to replace the 74 bulb so why dont you shut up and learn some manners. theres no need to be rude just cause you dont like what ive done.
not if you get amber, like hoyota said. its some thing like 'additional amber lighting to make the vehicle more visible' lol but pretty much yeah any other color and some states even amber is illegal so be careful
funny you should say that, just today i picked up a set of the xle tails with the bubls and everything from a junkyard for 20 bucks haha. good thinkin tho
depends on what your looking for. neon will definately turn a few heads, especially if very few people have it like here in kentucky. i have blue on mine, and i made someone speeding pull over with them. complete accident, but still. and as long as it isnt flashing and its not directed anywhere but on the ground then its alright.
Not in Georgia. Blue will get you pulled over in a second, flashing or not. So will the little blue or red dots on the washers on hood. We can't have red, blue, I think green, and possible amber colors. The green is "military reserved" (I think, it might have changed now), red for ambulance and fire, blue for police, and amber for tow trucks and such. I think it's stupid, but whatever.
No need for anyone to be rude, come on guys.

When you want sports car handling, you buy a sports car.
man, thats harsh
kentucky is pretty leanient on the automotive laws
hell, they dont even care if we use nitrous, as long as we arent speeding.
AND we dont even have to take emissions test here.
sweetness pretty much.
except that helps out all the ricers though
cant count how many times i hear a civic with some crappy, non emissions lega exhaust that sounds like a weed eater
going with neon lights will definitely attract attention, but probably not the good attention you're looking for. i think the car would look ridiculous and ugly cause i personally find neon underbody lights disgusting. why not save money and put it towards turning your car into VIP style look? after all, camrys are family cars not sports cars. go with an all red interior, lower your car, and slap on some nice wheels/tires. turn your camry into a sleeper, not some rainbow colored car at night.
bleh get the lights just to drive parking lots, why do you need them on when your runnin on the street...
its easy to install and not too expensive for a cool mod that draws attention, if you have them on on the street make sure your car doesnt have anything destinctive about it that makes it stand out above the average camry you would see anywhere *down here there are like 100 cam's i see on a daily basis :P mine sticks out like a sore thumb b/c of all the exterior mods ive done even w/out a bodykit :/*
i had LED bar's on it *green* for a while and never got messed with but i didnt leave them on when driving much :P, *if the bulbs dont show you might get away with it but anything other than red white or amber is illegal in most states, thus you could have amber or white underglow but red is still a touchy toppic, would be cool to set it up to put red down when your on the breaks though.
*i suggest LED bar's over acutal neon though, neon can break from rocks if you dont guard it the right way, whereas LED bar's are covered in hard plastic and dont seem to take much damage even if cracked.
