3rd Generation touchpad entry?

ok guys so this has been on my mind for a very very long time and i have been looking but yet to find

My moms toyota prius has touch entry so right when u put your hand on the handle and u have the key in ur pocket, it unlocks.

Do they make this in universal? i thought it would be kinda cool to have a viper alarm with touchpad entry also

Chris

Good God it would not be worth the price unless you have a medical reason for needing it.

I've got that in the vette. Gotta admit, it's pretty sweet. I never take my key/keyfob out of my pocket, ever.

But the cost would be kind of ridiculous for the purpose. It'd be very similar to systems people put in to pop open doors in cars that have completely shaved door handles, since you would need a solenoid AND a proximity RFID sensor, except those guys have a legit reason (well kind of) for needing it. Retrofitting a system like this when you still have to use your hand to touch the handle would just be retarded.

this is sort of off topic, but if the transmitter (the one that lets the car know you are the owner) has a low/dead battery, how will the car know to unlock for you? Is there a keyhole?

On my moms prius there is a small key that comes outa the remote that fits in a small hole on the driver side. its about 1/4 the size of a normal car key to give u an image. lol

There's a hidden keyhole on my car that allows me to pop the hatch and pull a release lever.
