got new rims, advice on drop

I've been looking through the forums for people's drops and have ideas on what goes well. I just got some 18x7.5 rims and 225-40R-18 Yokohama YK520's on a 95 camry LE 4 door. The car needs a drop without a doubt. Before I order this setup, I wanted to run it by you guys. I really want to avoid any rubbing...obviously, but I also want a nice look. My idea was going with the Eibach Pro Kit springs and KYB struts. Most setups I've seen were with 17" rims, so I wanted to see your input with 18's. I'm pretty confident it will be fine, but I'd rather make sure before I order something for like $500+.

IMO if you are on 18s the eibach drop is not low enough. Then again if you go any lower you are probably gunna rub. Rolling your fenders isnt a big deal.

H&R's Sports and KYB's...would probably give u the drop and look u want without rubbing. Heres a pic of the H&R's and KYB, GR2 the first day they were installed, running the same rim and tire size and offset u have..No problems with Rubbing.

The Rims and tires above are long gone...I'll never run 40 series tires again. 18's looked damn good, but the ride comfort SUCKED!! IMHO

^ haha, you think the ride sucked on a 40 series tire with a relatively soft sport spring you'd hate my car :p.

Besides that, you would have to drop a camry pretty significantly to really need to worry about rubbing (unless your offsets were really bad)

Is there a reason u getting kybs??? Tokicos are better for a sport spring and even eyeball said his tokcio h&r equipped camry is better than his kyb h&r equipped camry and it rides better.

^^^Thats the truth and I stand behind that statement....Tokicos>>KYB"S...but he was concerned with rubbing,

I had to roll the rear fenders on the 94 with the Tokicos.(ever so slight rubbing with the son in the back seat) The 96 with the KYBs have never rubbed.

Ok here's an edit...now that I think about it, the 94 didn't rub until I went from a 215/45 to a 215 50 series tire...so its more than likely the tire not the tokicos!

So, is it really that much of a difference ride quality wise? I'm just not liking the look of the car being a 4wd, but also don't wanna have to worry about if two people are in the car it's gonna rub the tires. Guess I could always roll the fenders...but wut kind of difference are we talkin about comparing the tokicos and kyb? And I'm def not racing or anything..this is strictly looks.

KYB is what many of us refer to as a half step above stock, if it's even a step at all... You'll pretty much get the same ride quality and performance feel as your current stock setup, only now you can safely add lowering springs to your setup. In your case of straight looks, KYB is definitely the route for you.

Tokicos are much more concentrated on the performance department, and while the ride quality isn't too bad at all for performance struts, you will feel the stiffness when you hit bumps. The car handles like a dream though, that's for sure

Just to reiterate, given your target render, you'll be just fine with KYBs.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and welcome to the boards I'm sure you'll find the TN forums to be a very welcoming place to be in the time you spend here. Feel free to ask any questions about anything you wish, but make good use of the search function first

Ok, well thanks again for the input. I'll be ordering the drop in the next day or so. I was goin to see about gettin em on shox.com. I just need the set of KYB struts and H&R springs right? I shouldn't need any other accesories or?
EDIT: nevermind, there's a post here by 1996camry that has the info i need

Also, just got a couple pics of the car w/ my phone after it was washed...thought you guys might wanna check em out although it's pre-drop. Couple other little things was changing the badges to chrome and getting a new windshield and putting a bra on it, kuz the one i have is cracked bad.
