cost to change water pump

need to have water pump changed in 2000 camry...any idea of coast to do this...thanks

That depends on where you have it done and what you have done. Depending on miles, you might want to change your timing belt too- as you have to take it off to change the water pump anyway. Most people say that you should change your timing belt between 60K and 90K miles.

If you have the belt changed too, a local shop might charge $200-$450 for the service (4 cyl) with an aftermarket water pump and belt. (some areas of the country may be more) A Toyota dealer might charge significantly more. The V6 would also likely be more.

For instance, if you want to use Genuine Toyota parts, the 4 cyl engine's pump is $100.95 and the V6's is $118.57. The OEM belts are $36/$51 (4/6 cyl). Aftermarket parts are much cheaper, and in my experience, better in the case of water pumps for the 4 cyl camry. (I went through 2 OEM ones within 60K miles and then had no issues with an aftermarket one.
