3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
The 10 amp fuse that controls the instrument cluster, power windows, sunroof, and a/c controls keeps blowing out. When it blows out I can't even tell how fast I'm going and how much gas I have left. Anyone else have similar problems?
Toyota wiring seems to hit a wall when it reaches a decade old. random stuff stops working. Does it blow on any particular function, or just randomly while you're doing nothing? Blown fuse points to component going bad or short in wiring.

Whenever I lower the windows, the fuse seems to blow soon after. It blew out when I hit a bump on my driveway and soon after I turned on the fan. I went to a Toyota mechanic, and all they could find was a blown 10 amp fuse.
You could try maybe jacking it up to 15 or 20 amps, and see if it still blows. If it does you're going to have to check your wires, or have a mechanic do it.
Fuses are made to blow when too much amperage is drawn through a circuit. Have you checked to see if its only a specific window that blows the fuse when you roll them down? Also, like the last post, it could have something to do with your ac clutch or fan motor as well. When you said that you hit a bump then turned on the fan, was the ac on at the same time? I also wouldn't suggest installing a higher amp fuse, because you're then letting more than normal amperage flow through those wires, which isn't safe at all.

When I hit the bump, the fan wasn't on. I turned on all the accessories and used all the window controls but couldn't blow a fuse. I drove it most of yesterday but nothing would act up. Could I use a circuit breaker in place of the fuse?
Make a list of each system on the fuse. Disable one at a time (you may need to get creative here). When you do disable the faulty system the fuse won’t blow and you will know where to look harder. It is usually a pain to do but I can't think of any other way to do this with an intermitant problem.
