Rim and tire

Hey guys

don't know much about this any help would be great

I want to get new rims for my car but don't know what all the other numbers mean on a tire. Could someone please clarify this for me?

All I know is that my bolt pattern for my gen 3 is 5 x 114.3 or any 5 bolt universal will fit

What kind of tire?

I have KYB GR2 struts but not lowered. Does the lip size matter? What should be the offset?

if the tires say "SIZE 205/40/17" what do the numbers mean? What should I be looking for? I know the last set of numbers is the size of the rim it'll fit. But what's the 205 or the 40? what's good? what's bad?

HELP!

thanks

Here's a calculator to show the difference between one tire size and another...

ok so what's ideal for a gen 3 camry? v6?

i have 15" stock rims right now, not sure of what kind of tires to go with them?

The tires I have right now say..
P205/65/R15 925

so if i upgrade to 17" what should I be looking for in terms of tires?

will changing the sidewalls do anything? as in make the car look like it's lowered? will it hit anything?

id go with 17s personally. as for tires then somthing liek 215/ 45 or 50/17s would work well. the higher the side wall the softer the ride but the more it will fill the fender gap as well.
