if i cut the bottom of the intake box, will i increase mpg or decrease it? it would sound better to no? i already removed the resonator on the intake hose.

if your goin to go through that trouble, why not just make a SRI and not damage your airbox? very small mpg increase maby, sound definatly. but ur millage would prolly be the same since ud be pushing it more to hear the engine more.

I would say loss of power and gas mileage thanks to sucking in hot engine bay air.

Also, you will lose gas mileage from stomping it all the time to impress the guy in the civic in the lane next to you.

I have done CAI's before, and I was constantly wanting to hear the noise it made. my current car is stock, and while I do get on it once in awhile, its not the constant un-necessary stomping anymore.

just my 2 cents
