3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Be very aware that old people in Jeep Libertys simply don't care what's behind them, and that you will have to stay calm or risk giving one of them a panick attack.
The quarter panel will have to be pulled back because of the horrible trunk gap in wich I can slide my full finger all the way to the back windows almost. I don't know about people in the U.S., but in Canada parking lots are almost automatic 50/50 fault, so I might have to end up paying for my insurance even though she backed up directly into me while I was waiting to exit the parking lot, and even though the impact is clearly on the side of my car, and on the back of HER jeep. My insurance company decided to put on an investigation to see if they can prove me clear without a doubt, so I'm crossing my fingers.

It was in a Tim Hortons Parkling lot, so I asked the manager for the security footage but all the angles are shit and nobody saw anything from inside

If you got pics of the accident and surroundings, you have a pretty case. The laws are dumb, but the people that run them generally aren't stupid. Generally... I can't vouch for everyone though.

I don't have pics of the actual incident cause the first thing I thought was that I needed to get back in a parking spot to avoid blocking folks behind me...I regretted that move later but when my insurance guy came to look over the car he said it wouldn't've made a big difference considering the impact is clearly lateral.

Old people aren't always easy going mellow nice people. They might argue that you backed out without looking or something while they had right of way and they hit you. Good luck man.
if they find you in partial fualt then its strictly on a technicality. that damage can only be done by someone hitting you. it would almost be impossible to recieve damage like that as a result of somthing you had done. if she bent the trunk lid and the inside of the trunk then ill bet they total it. good luck man.

3 Weeks later it's still a 50/50 case...
Anyways, the car is in the shop right now, and my insurance company has me rolling in a brand spanking new 2009 Camry LE 4 Cyl for the next 4-5 days. Drive by wire does take some getting used to but they drive real good.
I'l relink the before pic and post some after pics when I get the car back. I might even drive up to the body shop tonight to see if the car is getting worked on, I'll of course take pics if I can.

Update, it's on primer, should be in for paint tomorrow morning. All the gaps are lined up perfectly, and they kind of rebuild the corner light enclosure, it's pretty sweet work.
