4th Generation Rattling coming from the rear

hey guys i need ur help...my 97 has 127,000 miles on it and for a while now it has made some strange noises from the rear...i changed the rear stabilizer bar bushings and it made no difference...i took it to a mechanic down the street from my house and he said that it could possibly be the stabilizer bar end links...so he undid the links and told me to take it for a ride to see if i still hear the noise...and i still heard it...i then went and checked everything in the trunk to make sure the spare tire was tied down along with other things...everything was tight...the noise is strange because u can hear in when making slow turns at about 5mph...makes like a rattling/clunking...this noise is driving me nuts...anybody have any ideas? thanks!

i know this will sound silly but check your wheel weights, i had one get loose on my stockers and it made horrendous noises...esp at low speeds. have someone drive it like youre saying causes the mnoise and stand but it and try and pinpoint, it could be the exhaust moving around, something in the brakes, or any number of things

well i recently had the rear drums done with new ones and put new shoes on...when i brake it makes the rattling noise but it also makes it going around a turn at like 5-10 mph but not all the time...it especially makes the noise when the ground is unlevel and the rear has to sway a little up and down...i had a very similiar noise in the front when i first got the car and a different mechanic told me it was the front struts and mounts...ever since i changed those the noise never came back...but people have been telling me the struts usually dont go but more so the actual mounts...any ideas???

Maybe a loose exhaust mount. Or the cat heat shield

The cat shield is a good one to check.

is it coming from either particular side? left or right?

on our cars, it's quite often a strut mount

both sides make the same noise...it could possibly be the strut mounts but is there any way to check them?

As recommended by others, jack the rear up, hold at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock and push in and out, left and right, see if you can hear the noise. I actually have not tried this, but will do it today!

Somebody else recommended sitting in the back seat with another driver and see if you can hear coming from the top outside the speaker enclosures.
