air is only coming from my outer two vents and my defrosters, so im pretty sure there is a vacuum hose undone or broken or something, but i cant find where. anyone had this problem and fixed it and could help me.
i coulda sworn they did. the silver mesh looking thing at the back of the vents that you talked about in your thread, is that supposed to move? if so, does that control wether the air comes from the center vents or the defrosters? i have the cable and rotary switch type, not the push button, so i dont think there is a servomotor for the mode selecter. i know the blower motor dampers work though, so another cable might be undone somewhere else.
No, that silver mesh does NOT move. The center vent dampers are underneath that and you cant reach them.
There is an inlet servomotor and an outlet servomotor. The inlet motor is the one on the blower that provides fresh air or recirculated air. If you have the rotary type and not push button, you dont have an inlet servomotor, but you WILL have an outlet motor, which is the one that selects which vents the air blows out of.
It sounds to me like you have the same problem everyone else had, including myself, in that the plastic clip broke or came off of the push rod connecting the outlet motor to the dampers up in your dash.

i was out driving today and when the air is on high a small amount of air comes from the center vents. so it has to be the door is not how its supposed to be. ima look into it later on
took a look at the a/c today. like i said the rod is hooked up to the motor, but not the damper fan. so i played with the fan. i can hear it moving, and air is redirecting from the defrosters. but air is still not coming from the center vents. so there must also be another problem
What you are saying about the 'damper fan' I am not understanding. The fan and dampers are seperate. That rod you say is hooked to the motor should also be connected to the center vent dampers up top in the dash (only serviceable by removing the dashboard). What you are describing about the air coming out of the defrost vents and not the center is the EXACT problem I had, and I had to remove the entire dash to fix that rod to damper connection.
Good luck! Take your time and make sure you have plenty of it!
